07 Dec Queens Club 1812 Real Tennis dinner
Our Sauvignon Blanc 2016, Bronze Award winning wine, was chosen to be included at the dinner following the 1812 50s and over Biennial Real Tennis Competition.
Every second year a team of 6 pairs of Americans are pitted against 6 pairs of Brits. This Doubles Real Tennis competition switches back and forth between the USA and Great Britain. 2015 the “1812”, as it is known, took place in Chicago; in 2017 the British hosted the Americans at The Queens Club in London from 1st October-3rd October.
On the evening of 2nd October, the group held a festive dinner in the Members Room and introduced the Americans and some of the British to some of our fine English wines.
The Southwest Vineyards Association played a large role; we had Camel Valley Vineyards Chardonnay Brut sparkling from Cornwall as an aperitif and Pebblebed Vineyards Rosé and Brick House Vineyard Sauvignon Blanc as our dinner wines.
The Brick House Sauvignon Blanc was a huge success with the delicate fish course and many of the group continued to drink it throughout the dinner. The compliments were overwhelmingly positive and, more to the point, by the close of the event, not a drop was left!
