Brickhouse Vineyard at Sunset

Coronavirus and Your Wedding

The world has changed massively in the past few weeks and it can be a particularly worrying time if you have a wedding planned for 2020. At Brickhouse Vineyard our number one priority is the health and safety of our couples, their guests and wedding suppliers present. Following conversations we’ve had from couples recently in relation to the Coronavirus, we’ve put together the following plan to help answer any queries you may have if you’re getting married at Brickhouse Vineyard this year.

On 23rd March the Government made a new announcement explaining that weddings will not be able to take place until further notice. The Prime Minister has assured the country that these tighter restrictions will be in place for a minimum of three weeks (until Easter 2020) but will be constantly reviewed. Consequently, we will be rearranging all weddings that are affected by these new measures.

Please rest assured that we’re hoping to continue business as usual as soon as we are allowed to re-open and the Registrars can attend ceremonies – see here is for the Devon Registrars’ latest update! We are keeping an eye on the daily advice from Government and will take the necessary precautions as recommended by the NHS.

We know that this is a very upsetting time for many couples and hope that we can all work together to get through these challenging times. Please do remember that this is temporary and will pass in time. While we know it’s tough to do so, please do try to stay calm. We are communicating and collaborating with each couple that are worried or affected by the Coronavirus outbreak. We will do everything we can to help and find a solution during these difficult times.

For couples who are unable to carry on with their wedding due to the Government’s restrictions and a Coronavirus related illness, we’ll be flexible as possible and will work with each couple on a case by case basis to find a solution. We do have some last-minute alternative dates available this year so don’t panic – we WILL find a way for you to still have your special day.

No one wants to change their wedding date and we understand that this is a stressful time for many of our clients. We are doing our best to be as flexible as possible and asking couples getting married at Brickhouse to do the same.

If you are marrying at Brickhouse later this Spring/ Summer:

Due to limited availability, we are currently postponing weddings for couples who are unable to get married in April, May and June until later this year. We are very much hoping that from July onwards weddings will go ahead as planned. Please be aware that delaying your wedding to 2021 could have a devastating effect on the hospitality industry. While it might be tempting to write off 2020 to hold your wedding, if all couples shift their date to next year, our 2021 bookings would be full of this year’s business. We want to be here next year to work with you!

For all upcoming weddings taking place we will be taking the following steps to protect you and your guests during weddings. We will have available hand sanitisers, anti-bacterial soap, paper towels and signage to remind everyone of extra hand washing.

There are so many fantastic wedding bloggers out there meanwhile with plenty of advice, tips and support for couples.

Love My Dress has some amazing articles and Brides has some heart-warming stories that might help how you feel right now. Bridebook has a great blog on “A 7 Step Guide to Dealing with the Outbreak”.

In the meantime, please do continue to support your local businesses and wedding suppliers who are all working tirelessly to ensure life is as normal as it possibly can be! Big shout out to all NHS workers and all the other key workers who are trying to keep the country going.
